A practical standard for access
Urban Motoring is committed to improving access to its editorial and advisory information for people with diverse abilities, devices and ways of navigating. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA as a practical reference.
Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time claim. New content and changes are expected to preserve semantic structure, readable language and operation without a mouse.
Readable by design
The site uses clear heading levels, labelled navigation regions, visible keyboard focus, sufficient colour contrast and flexible layouts. Main text is sized for comfortable reading and line length is constrained on wider screens.
Informative photographs include text alternatives, while decorative brand images are hidden from assistive technology. Meaning is not intended to depend on colour alone, and links use descriptive wording in context.
Keyboard and motion choices
All primary routes are ordinary links and the mobile menu uses native details and summary elements, so navigation remains available without JavaScript. A skip link lets keyboard users move directly to the main content.
The site respects reduced-motion preferences by disabling smooth scrolling and transitions. Controls are given clear focus indicators and practical target sizes for touch use on narrow screens.
Built on open web foundations
The pages use semantic HTML, shared CSS and a small progressive-enhancement script. They are intended to work with current versions of major browsers, screen readers, browser zoom and operating-system text settings.
Older or highly customised combinations may present differently, but the reading order and core navigation should remain available. The site does not require an account, drag-and-drop action or time-limited interaction.
Where improvement may still be needed
Generated editorial photographs can contain complex visual context that is difficult to convey fully in a concise alternative description. We aim to describe their editorial purpose rather than every incidental object.
External email and telephone applications opened by contact links are outside our control. If a page, device combination or piece of language creates a barrier, please tell us what you were trying to do and the technology involved.
Request another format
If you cannot access content or need information in another practical format, email contact@urbanmotoring.online or call +61 8 7326 2300. We will work with the information you provide to find a reasonable alternative.
